Default Really Cool Gadget

I just got a Garmin StreetPilot i2, I got it from eBay. It is a navigation system. I don't travel too far away but I really like electronics so I bought one. I have used it several times and it will take you to where ever you want to go (sure beats reading a map). The i2 is Garmin's lower end gps but does about everything the upper end units do. They are for sale on eBay all the time, I won the bid on mine for about $60.00 (worth every penny). If any of you travel alot this is something worth looking into. Check it out here https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=321 This is a gps for a car but you can take it with you while hiking, biking, hunting, etc. Very handy. I think it would make a great gift for that person you never know what to get. Take care! Steve.

The i2 is the first gps we ever bought. It worked fine until we tried to put in a chip with more memory, and then it messed up, and we didn't have a warranty because we bought it on eBay.

So don't put a bigger chip in it.

I can fit all of the New England states and Ontario,Canada on the memory card that came with it and that will cover all the places I go. It comes with a 128 MB memory card but you can use a 2 GB memory card with it. Not sure why it quit working for you Carol by just replacing the memory card unless you didn't get the right kind. It takes a MicroSD memory card. Steve.

Not sure what gig we bought for it, probably a 1 gig. But we were planning our trip to Florida, and wanted New England and I95 all the way to Florida, so we wouldn't have to reload the maps when we got out of New England. The map program just froze up and refused to download all the maps. Then we tried putting the old memory card back in, and it wouldn't download the New England maps. That's when we contacted Garmin support, and they told us we didn't have a warranty.

Needless to say, since we were leaving the next day, we went out and bought the c330. So our i2 is sitting here doing nothing.

I'll have to ask Vlad what kind of chip it was, but it wasn't cheap, and we got it at Circuit City.

Probably a person should buy the best they can afford just like when purchasing a detector. I think they all do the same thing just some have more bells and whistles, me being the simple plain jane kind of guy decided on the i2, cheaper/black & white instead of color, etc. It works great, I have tried to fool it numerous times but I could never out smart it. I think whatever model you get Tim will be fine, Garmin,TomTom, all good units. Steve.

The Garmin Nuvi 350 is an outstanding piece of equipment... and was rated best by Consumer Reports. Has no issues with stopping or even changing courses.. just recomputes. It is a small unit with a very nice screen. RickO
