Does anyone know the frequency of the high tone audio option for the Vaquero? Normal is 293 Hz, so would the high tone be the same as a Silver uMax at 630 Hz? I contacted Tesoro via email and have yet to receive a response.

It's more for personal preference than performance.

My Compadre has 630 Hz. My Bandido II umax is suppose to have 630 Hz. It sounds exactly like my high tone Vaquero did before I had the Vaquero changed to a low tone. Both the Bandido and Vaquero (high tone) pitch is/was so high that it made my ears hurt and ring. The Compadre at 630 Hz sounds a bunch lower in tone to me and is comfortable to my ears.
The question is, what pitch was my high-tone Vaquero before I had it changed and what is the pitch of my Bandido? Does the high tone Vaquero and Bandido II umax suppose to sound like the Compadre at 630 Hz? Are the Compade and Silver unmax considered high-tones? My newly changed Vaquero back to a low tone (293 Hz) doesn't sound nearly as good to me as my Compadre does. beephead __________________ |

Not sure about the HZ frequency, but the high tone is much higher than the Silver, which is about the same as my Compadre from videos on youtube. The low tone Vaq's and Cibola's are lower. For those that want to hear the difference between a high tone Vaq and a Compadre, I did this quick video just now because high tone Tesoro videos are rare. Not enough light, and a little crosstalk between the two in close proximity, but this will give you an idea. I seem to hear both fine. I got the high tone because I thought these old ears could benefit, but it turns out I have no problems with either one and they both sound good to me. However, I am used to the high tone because I have hunted with it for way over a year, so I guess that sounds normal to me now and I prefer listening to that one. Low tone Vaq... Silver... __________________ |

Digger, thanks for the video. I've come to the realization that I like the 630 Hz of the Compadre and Silver. The high tones of the Vaquero and Bandido are way too high for my ears. The Hz must be really super high. The low tone Vaquero (293 Hz) doesn't sound as good to me as the tones of the Compadre and Silver at 630 Hz.
What I don't understand is that the specs say the Bandido II uMax is 630 Hz and it sounds like the high tone Vaquero, but nothing like the 630 Hz Compadre. beephead __________________ |

I threw these same videos up on Findmall for the curious over there, and Monte chimed in with some facts.
Still don't know that number for the high tone Vaq, but he mentions the Pantera went to 800. Back in '83 when I switched over to the Tesoro Inca and started selling Tesoro's, I found it was pleasant to use. One reason was they had a larger speaker and they barked a louder bark .. but when I got the 'original' Silver Sabre I started using it a bit more. The Inca had an Audio Frequency of 375 Hz, but the original Silver Sabre was 450 Hz. The higher pitch audio just sounded better and I could hear subtle responses better. As an example, after checking the Tesoro website, here are a few of the Audio Frequency ratings they showed for some of my favorite models: Bandido and Bandido II .. 625 Hz Silver Sabre II ... 750 Hz Silver Sabre 然AX, Silver 然AX, Compadre, Bandido II 然AX ... 630 Hz Pantera ... Low-Tone = 600 Hz and High-Tone = 800 Hz As you can see. most of these are in a higher Audio frequency range than the standard pitch for the Cibola and Vaquero which have an Audio Frequency of 293 Hz or VCO. The 290 Hz. is a lower tone and, for me and my deafening hearing at my age they are much harder to hear. Not only harder to hear, but for ME the lower-pitch audio frequency Tesoro uses is just not pleasant. Just some interesting numbers to compare. I have owned three or four vaqueros and only one had the Hi-Tone mod and I liked it the bast, from an audio response viewpoint. Monte __________________ |
