Default Pinpointer Vent

for me a pin pointer is an essential part of my gear when detecting,i feel naked with out one. my first whites bulls eye pin pointer lasted a few weeks and the button stopped working so we put a toggle on it..lasted about 2 months then crapped out on me so i bought a "new and improved" bulls eye pin pointer took it out one time and by the end of the day it sounded like a goose in bad need of an inhaler then the next day it crapped out...send it back to whites which cost me 8 bucks, got it back in a week or so and tested it out in the yard...good deal it seems to work fine.....took it out on my next hunt and about 2hrs in it stopped working..fed up i called whites and talked to some "know it all" and i sent it back costing me another 8 bucks..ive had it back for a week now and tried to use it after work today at a local park but it wouldnt work..again sounding like a muffled goose with breathing problems, was so upset with it i came home. the bulls eye is an awesome design{other than the whole button being worthless} but come on!!!!! make a dang pin pointer that can handle some use and not !!!! out if ya fart to close to it. whites customer service is good if you have a question or problem with there detectors but they acted like i was bothering them when i had questions about my pin pointer they so proudly put there name on with a $100+ price tag. with all that said can someone recommend a small pin pointer at a reasonable price that can handle a bit of use?

I use a Vibraprobe 560 and have been very happy with it. No switches to go bad and it's supposed to be waterproof. It will definately take a beating.

Hi RelicHound !

The designer/manufacturer of the Vibra-Probe 560 has come out with a new and improved model, the Vibra-Probe 570. I bought one from Tony at T.C.Metal Detectors and it is being shipped to me today ! You can see it on Tony's website.

I like the Sunray DX-1, attaches to my DFX and it is one less thing to carry on me. Plus I hear it through my head phones.

I have both the BE-II and the VP 560. I like both units a lot and have never had a bit of trouble with the BE-II. The VP 560 is my "weapon" of choice though as it is waterproof and is very handy when I am doing my water hunting and the target seems to want to hide. As far as the BE-II, I learned a long time ago through other peoples mishaps to treat it gingerly and not put a lot of strain on it when probing around in the dirt. The switch on mine has never let me down, and I use it a lot. Maybe it was made on a day when everything was going good at the factory.

Never used one!

I've had 2 brand new ones but never tried them. They came with a detector.

Maybe my long history with using a detector, pre-pinpointer, has helped but I've never seen the need for one. Now if I get a DD 1400 or the likes may view my change, but I've never had a problem pinpointing.

Default Owned both white's pinpointers.

Both were satisfactory, but always had to fiddle with them.....The good news is I lost both of them. I am now the proud owner of a sunray inline. Best investment I ever made.....Hard even for me to lose......Gil

i use mine alot when i dig a plug and the target aint in the plug,i know im close but sometimes not spot on so ill take the pin pointer and "probe" along the walls of the hole and at the bottom so im not diggin around and actually damage whatever the target is,i can get by with out one but its kinda like a cell phone for me..always hated em and thought they where useless but i find my self feeling naked if i forget it at home{just in case}.

I also invested in a Sunray inline probe a year ago and haven't looked back. It clips right to the detector shaft, gives the same tone ID as the detector (thru the headphones), is powered by the detector batteries (no need to carry around extra batteries), and has a depth range of 3-4 inches. It does not cost much more that a handheld and Ralph @ Sunray is right on top with the customer service. Now my Bullseye just sits on the shelf. Anyone wanna make an offer?
