Default Mystery Bottle Stopper

Can anybody tell me what this may have been used for? It is a bottle stop found from an area that I have been pulling a lot of old corroded GeorgeII coins from. It has hand cut silver wrapped around glass. It has a "22" etched in the bottom. It should be a few hundred years old. My guess is a perfume bottle stop? There was no bottle in the hole though. I would appreciate any insight....Thanks
