Default Last week I posted about detecting a coin or something

in a puppy. this past friday, that same daggum puppy chewed through the cord on my detector! i had it leaning a against a tree while digging. i went back to get the MD and she had chewed completely through the cord!!! she chewed through the deep seeker so i put the other back on and continued. She's a stray and we've not named her. anyone want a cute little dog? treasures included! Has anyone ever splice a MD coil cord? did it work? it's a Garrett 2500 deep seeking coil.

Sorry about your troubles... Puppies chew things, at least everyone I have owned... maybe when you dig you should give it a piece of rawhide or something.

Ouch, Hoosier. I'm sure any reliable electronics shop will be able to splice your cable back together - it's not rocket science.

Probable shielded cable, and yes it can be spliced. Solder connections, not butt splice, and use shrink tube over the connections to prevent moisture from getting in. Should be just fine. We do it here at work all the time.

FYI - i emailed Garrett with my predicament and i received good news today. it'll be replaced with little cost! Glad i don't have to solder the wires as they're very small and three have a wire within a wire.
