Default What a run

I have had the most incredible run of luck this last week. I was reluctant to post up my consecutive silver finds as I was afraid of jinxing myself.
It all started last Wednesday. Met up with Don and Perry, and after finding a new spot fairly cherry picked we moved out and did the curb strip and I nailed the 1917 Walker. I skipped hunting Thursday as I had lawn and other chores backing up, but went out and joined Perry and Don at a site they had been to on Thursday where Perry scored a 1794 Copper in pretty decent shape. Finds as I expected were few and far between, but in checking the scrub brush off to the woods side, about 25' from where Perry got his 1700s coin I got a nice signal on the XLT, only 4-4.5 inches down, out pops my first Spanish Silver, a 1779 2 Reale!! I was totally pumped at this point.
On Saturday I decided to do a property I recently got permission for, an 1820s house. I did well in the front yard the week before and tackled the back Saturday afternoon. Only a few finds, but WOW! The first was a 1858 Canadian 5 cent piece, at first I thought I had my 4th Half Dime, but it wasn't. Then right before packing it in, the blaring from the speaker brought me to uncover this 1873 Seated Half, dinner out, YOU BETCHA!
Sunday found me feverishly hunting for more silver and I only got one, a 1960 Rosie, still the run continued. Monday I returned to the same spot and managed one silver again, ok, I knew I was going out today, and I went until I found a silver then quit, it was a 1950 Rosie. Today I returned and finished this spot out with a 1957D Washington quarter, only my second silver Washington.
I am posting tonight because the next two days will not include any detecting, so the run is over, but I don't think I will forget this week any time soon. I also have 10 wheats to show for all those hunts, and this decorative piece that I have no idea what it is, the medal has a CS at the top, with an eagle, I am thinking Girl Scouts? Maybe?
Anyhoo, thanks for looking, this was way cool!!

The pin is a GS at the top for Girl Scouts. Do you have a "mint" mark on the back? I found one about a month ago just like that, but mine has a letter C stamped on the back like a mint mark.

Nice finds!!

The run is not over...it doesn't end until you have a day of hunting with no silver. You've recovered some high quality silvers so far, especially the Reale and Seated Half. Congratulations on the great hunting and the silver streak, nice work!

Thank you Capt. that means a lot coming from someone of your caliber. The problem is, that 1820s house has been gridded every which way but loose. The soccer field and ballfield at the old HS are about finished too, at least till fall.
I went to the Township Supervisors meeting tonight and pitched my case to be able to detect a closed down pool area from the 50s that will soon be a dog park, if I get a yes, before my next hunt, I will feel confidant, otherwise I may struggle, I was saving those spots for a week like that, I am almost out of spots...
I know I will run out before winter gets here and I have more time to do some research. Maybe I will take up door knocking.

Yes, I actually found the ugliest 1900 Morgan at the site of an old mill they tore down close by. From the looks of the coin, every single brick fell on that coin before they hauled the bricks away But, I was still pretty jazzed up about finding it, I was very lucky to have started this hobby last fall and did a LOT of reading last winter, but I am pretty much at the end of the line for places I have gained permission for. I may just knock on a few doors, I might as well get used to it cause eventually those will be the spots holdng most of the goodies.
I actually did pull out a ring, but I think it is just plated, inside it says 1/4-0-12k I have to drop it off at the local jeweler so he can tell me it is junk. but that won't surprise me.
I really hope the township supervisors give me the go ahead before the weekend. The pool area has been closed for many years, in fact there are trees growing from the cracks in the bottom of the pool. It was opened in the early 50s, so I am thinking it should be a great spot. The whole park that surrounds it is posted "No Metal Detecting" and has been since before the pool closed. Fingers crossed.

Scroll down to the chart for Type 5. It depends if you have an uppercase R, or a lowercase r.

Your years are 1940-1979 for either.

Uh....I think this should have been posted in the eye popping section. 2 Reales are pretty scarce much less finding a seated half. Awesome finds...Way to go!!!
