Default Gridding the Gridiron

First let me say it’s great to have the site back! Thanks to Vlad and Carol for all their hard work.

Last week I started working my way up the local football field. I figured I’d grid out the entire thing since it lends itself to that sort of thing. I’ve been out there 3 times so far and it’s turning out to be a lot bigger project than I thought it would be. It’s taking almost half an hour to go from one side to the other and I’m only covering a few yards so it’s took me a good 6 hours to get to the 20 yard line. I don’t see finishing before football season starts.

Here’s what I have so far. The chain is a little better than ½ an ounce of 925. There are 3 junk rings two of which are wire, a few keys and a junk hart. No a lot of trash to speak of so it’s pretty easy going. I haven’t counted the clad yet.

Thanks for looking.

Congrats on that nice silver chain. If you really don't think you'll have time to 'do' the whole field, then I would suggest you hit from the 30 yd line to the other 30 yd line and cover the 'sweet spot' so to speak. The middle of the field on the home side is where most of the activities such as the band, homecomming and that stuff takes place and where the most concentration of goodies will be. Good luck and let us know how it goes. : )

Thanks! I had no idea how to go about this so I was just going for everything. I'll skip up a few yards the next time I'm out and get started in where the action is.

Thumbs up Great finds!

You are doing the field the best way - gridding it! Good luck on the rest of the field!

Good job ! Last year I finished a similar piece of ground - a field that had 4 baseball diamonds. I drew a map of all the important landmarks & crossed off the areas as I did them. I got a lot of gold & silver , well worth the effort. I kept it on the back burner for times that I didn't have any hot spots around town.

Your yard markers sure will help in doing it all.
Good luck, Steve in so az

That may be how I go about this one. The field has more than the football field on it and it's used pretty often so I can only get in a few hours a week. I'll be hunting this one into next summer I think.
