Default Small silver and tiny button with DD Coils

Since today was very hot and the ground is dry, I figured it would not be the best time to search for deep items.

The first site I visited today has lots of iron in the ground, so I used a 4 X 6 shooter with my MXT hoping to find something in this "busy" area. Below you'll see a tiny decorated colonial button I dug, it's the smallest size I have found and only the second one of this size in my "collection".

Since I wasn't finding much, I decided to go to the local high school and dig some easy coins in quiet ground using my 6 X 10 DD. I found a small silver surprise, a canadian 5-cent coin.

Last week I found a rough silver Canadian dime in an old park and found that the type was only minted until 1901. By coincidence, today's coin was the same type and I recognized it immediately. I knew that it was old, before 1902, so I was anxious to check the date. The date verified my identification... 1901, beating any clad I have dug at this site by (you guessed it) 64 years.

Anyway, I was happy to come home with a couple of keepers. The DD coils did a nice job with these small items and I got a silver coin that is over 100 years old. The U. S. silver must be out there somewhere! It's bigger and should be easier to find.

Awesome coin. I have one just like it, same year, but it was found in my grandfather's old change jar years ago. Good to hear your success.

64 years is a big jump back in time! Nice finds Seeker, the 1800's is just around the corner. The coins look like they are in good shape.

Keep Swing'in
