Default Coin Beach DE

I have the opportunity to stay a few days down the beach, Lewes DE. I'm certainly new to Md'ing and have never hunted beaches. I keep hearing about "coin beach", reputed to be THE place to go for very old coinage. I know the area down there but what would be the best beaches to concentrate on ??? Lewes ? National Seashore above Indian River Inlet ? I'm far more interested in early coins. I'd really appreciate any help. Also, what else of interest might I find ?

Thank's

John Yank

here's some info about the shipwreck that gave coin beach its name.

Coin beach is that stretch of beach north of the Indian River Inlet.

In the old days, coins from the wreck washed up on shore, and people just walk the beach and pick them up...hence the name.

Now, it is very rare to find one of the coins from the wreck, even with a metal detector.

There's a treasure museum on the top floor of Sea Shell City on Fenwick Island. It was organized by a local treasure hunter who dived the Faithful Steward wreck, has all kinds of artifacts and coins. It was free when I went some years ago, don't know if it still exists?
