Default Back in the game.

Well after a few weeks of no detecting, I finaly had a chance to get out a couple weeks back when my two brothers were visiting from California and Michigan. They were both here for a week which gave me the green light for detecting. Been real busy with house work and other stuff so it was a pleasure to get out. We did three hunts at different spots. First was a park I've been to before. Got a couple Barber dimes, a few wheats and a button I thought might be military, but is more likely civilian.

Next trip was to an old swimming hole I stumbled accross. Got a Merc, a Rosie, an old sterling ring plus a war nickel with a wheat cent stuck to it. Wheats and other interesting goodies rounded out the day. Deffinately a spot I'll try again!

Next day we tried another park I've been to quite a few times. Got two more Mercs, two more war nickels, two Buffalo nickels plus a few more wheats.

My brothers hard at work,

Here's all my better finds for our three outings,

Really hoping to get out more in the next few weeks!!

3 hunts??? I've found ONE barber dime in almost 3 years - and you go about finding two that are both nicer in one dinky hunt...Ugh - how I wish to live up there someday.

Nice hunt! That 1914 is a sharp looking coin! Button is very interesting... sure looks military of some sort - I found a Grand Army of the Republic button recently that looks somewhat similar... That striped background with stars around the edge definitely has the look... let us know if you ID it!

That button looks similar to one I pulled yesterday. From what I found it's a navy button. If the eagles head is turned to its left it is WW 1, if the head is turned right it is WW2. Beautiful barbers btw!

I found the exact same button online. Some one had commented that it was a reproduction of an early military design that was popular in the 50's and 60's on coats etc. It was said that the military issue had much sharper detail, plus the back on mine seems to be made of steel "rusty" and the loop is square. Not typical of military buttons I've seen before.
