Default First outing CTX3030 hits silver

Took my new CTX3030 to a park that was once my best producing park, now is my worst. I have hunted it a bunch of times with my Etrac, and so has my my friends.

I used Gonehuntings settings which are great. Its a huge improvement from the etrac in heavy iron. You can work your way through iron without having to grind to a near standstill.

got a 12-46 12-47 showing 7 inches deep. I love how it shows you how deep as you swing over it, much nicer than having to stare at a meter.

Found this in the pile of dirt, a 1944 Washington. It got really cold outside and I have this nasty head cold so I called it a day. So far so good! Cant wait to take it out on its maiden voyage tomorrow.

Thanks for looking!

Honestly I dont think it will replace my Etrac as my main land detector. I think its a huge improvement over the etrac in iron. No doubt about it, but what I was not impressed with is its tone ID in conductive mode. The etrac will stop you dead in your tracks when you hit a CO line of 46-47. On the CTX using multi tone of 50, The tones sound processed and dont vary much like on the etrac. That I miss. I find that on the CTX a 12-44 will sound the same as a 12-47. On the Etrac those two ID's sound very very different. When I had my etrac on a deep coin, you could almost hear the round shape of the coin with the change in pitch and depth of the tone. So far with the CTX it gives me a mono-processed high tone. That will take getting used to, and I may have it set up incorrectly as I have only been out 2 hours with it, and I am a stubborn Etrac user.

I will say what it lacks in tone ID, it more than makes up for in screen ID. The ability to see multiple targets is simply amazing. This is the first machine I have used where you trust the screen over the tone vs the other way around. Will take some getting used to, but I'm in it for the long haul.

You are missing a whole lot of customization on your sounds. This is another great feature of the CTX. go into you pattern hit edit and check out TONE menu. From there you have infinite possibilities for your TONE/Target Identification. There is allot to the CTX to make it really work for the user. If you have any questions let us know.

Congrats man. Keep the reports up. I might upgrade in the future depending on what e-trac/explorer users say.
