Default First gold but does it count?

I was lucky to get my first gold today, a small 14k hoop earring. It was an eyeball find at a school, but I did swing my coil over it. Does eyeballing stuff count?

In my book it does!!!!! eyeball finds are way cool , it means your putting yourself in the right position to find gold now all you need to do is find more! Your a gold magnet!

It certainly does count. Metal detecting has trained you to search the ground for anything irregular or unusual because you are always looking down while you detect. After a while you will be good enough to spot items laying in the turf or dirt. You'll then see things before the detector does. Good luck hunting.

Yes it counts.Awesome eyeball find.I found a 14k ring at the beach just sitting on top.My coil passed over it,but i'd have never missed seeing it.As long as you are detecting it all counts.Glad to see you are paying attention to the ground.I try to watch the section my coil is missing to the left.By the way.Small gold that doesn't set off your detector is a good eyeball find too.Only way you will find it is by eye.

You swung your coil over it so put it down in the books.

I say it counts cause you were out detecting anyways! I wouldn't count it as a detecting find if I didn't have my detector with me. Congrats!!

Agreed. Great first gold find. Did your detector beep on it?

I agree 100% - you wouldn't have seen it if you were not out detecting.

Yes it counts as long as you are detecting in the process.
