Cool Seated Half Dollar

True story...before I got into detecting about the beginning of this year I never paid much attention to coins or what was what about them. A number of years ago my wife was workng in the garden in our backyard and found the coin shown. I just thought.."cool coin"... and then tossed it in a jar. Now that I am a bit more educated thanks to all of you after reading the posts here and seeing the finds I remembered that coin!
Needless to say I have been all over my yard since, but nothing else like this turned up. Our house was built in the 1940's, but there are some older homes around and the area had been used since the turn of Century for summer tent camping to be near the ocean before lots of the homes were built. When my wife and I talk about when she found the coin, she loves to point out she did it without some fancy detector!! Or as she likes to paraphrase a line from Bogart's moive, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, when the bad guys are talking about badges......
"Detectors, detectors, I don't need no stinking detectors!"

Reminds me of the parody in the non-PC movie "Blazing Saddles".

Nice quarter. Rusty's gonna want it.

Tell her if she can find that without a detector then just imagine what she could find with one

Nice coin, it sucks when the old lady can top your best finds without a detector.

That's really funny! Today when my husband and I were out on our first hunt together. I got him a Ace 250 for his birthday, so now we both have detectors. We were sitting at a picnic table looking over our finds. And he looks down at the ground and finds a nickle. Just laying there. We laughed about that since nether one of us had our detectors on at the time.

Once you get the bug you'll find you notice things on the ground you probably wouldn't have noticed before.
