Pinpointing with the Cibola is very easy, Find a place free of trash, find a piece of plywood or any other material about 50 cm x 50 cm, one clab or any other metal, put it under the plywood and start to pratice. Usually most targets are found in the center of the coil
There are two ways to find where the target is :
1) Using the pinpoint button, it gives a high pitch when getting nearer to the target.
2) Switch to Min discrimination and try the X-ing thing with your coil.

Cardboard works well for the above exercise. I tape a coin to the cardboard and then use a knife or something to punch through where I pinpointed and see how close I am. A few brief sessions of this and I've already gotten much better at pinpointing and figured out the pinpointing nuances of the Ace 250.

I like that cardboard idea. I'll have to try that with my QDII.

Some folks don't like the way the Cibola pinpoints (VCO pinpointing I believe it's called) but I find that the Cibola was the best pinpointing machine I ever had. Dead center of the coil every time, when the pinpoint button is pressed in it will make a sound & when over the target the sound gets louder - at the loudest point that is where the target is. Just place a coin on the ground and give it a try. Steve.

I have a Cibola and maybe it is just me but I never use the pinpoint button at all. I just X over the target and dig. The only time I ever run into pinpointing issues is when multiple targets are in a small area.
