Default Dug up a Seated Liberty half dollar in my garden

I had to increase the size of my garden a bit this year and while digging holes for my tomatoes I looked over and saw a round metal object on top of the dirtpile. I figured it was a metal slug or some other junk. I own a metal detector and have spent some time in my yard but it's chock full of nails, bolts and other junk. I pick up the object and wiped off some of the dirt and I couldn't believe my eyes. A 1876s Seated Liberty half!

It's too bad I clipped it with the shovel.

I've swung my Ace 250 in the backyard a few times. There is alot of garbage buried. I may have to borrow a better detector. The signal jumps are a pain. May need a different coil for all of the junk that's in there.

Holy cow. I'd be swinging like mad and digging EVERYTHING from that yard. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one to nick a seated half.

That's crazy, congrats to you! Can I come over, I'll help remove the metal in your yard while you do the gardening!

That is an incredible find, detector or not. Just the fact that you detect, causes you to check the ground from time to time, and allowed you to spot this very nice coin.

Excellent find. ColoKid
