Introduction of the new FBS2 technology has me wondering what other FBS2 offerings will be following, and how soon? __________________ Slow Down, and you'll achieve a more harmonious outcome. Also keep in mind, the best you know is the best that you've had.

I'll wait a few years and see how much the used ones go for. But more importantly, I'll be reading the reviews. It's like a brand new model car. I wait for other people test drive it for a few years to get the bugs out of it and then if is still highly rated I will look for a used one with little wear and tear.

I am surprised you are not already. Quote:
Once the initial rush dies down call your favorite sponser and try to get it for 20% less than the lowest advertised price which equates to $1839/1999, possibly lower if they lower the LAP. Quote:
It will probably out do the E-Trac in separating targets and finding coins in nails, iron, and junk, due to the target and sound restructuring, and the ability to detect two targets on the screen. __________________ |

When you think about how many FBS machines that they currently produce, it would stand to reason that if FBS2 turns out to be better than sliced bread, they will introduce scaled back versions at a more affordable/accessable price in the not too distant future. I can live w/o waterproof, propritary wireless, and a GPS if it saves me 600-800 dollars.

Not to diminish the CTX 3030 I'm sure it is a fantastic detector, but expect a lot of gushing reviews from buyers who need to love it because they just forked out $2500 for the thing.

the CTX 3030 will not accept the brand name phones in to the detector itself you know the plug in the detector the Grey Ghosts Pro Golds etc.. will not work. so theres the 1st bug.

If it can prove to be BETTER then the Excal in shallow water for jewelry I will have one before the 4th of July. I definitely can not justify spending that much $$ to find some Wheaties that other detectors have missed. The real money is in the water...I want to see this bad boy just crushing the gold in the water!! |

I doubt it will be better in shallow water. There isn't that much target masking in water. At least not at my beach. And that is what this detector is supposed to do. Find targets next to iron. It will be safer in the water. That is once the waterproof headphones come out. But once the screen is under water you might as well have an Excal. You won't see it. As far as wet and dry sand? I hear it is no deeper than any others FBS. And that makes sense. Same size coil. Maybe if you purchase the 17 inch coil. You have another 300.00?
I do hunt Atlantic City where there is iron galore. But the locals saw fit to cover the iron and old targets with five feet of sand. Masking won't be a problem there either. The beach is all about punching deeper to get the gold. There is a limit to digging a realistic hole in wet sand. After all the next wave might just fill it in while your trying to dig it out. But over all dealing with sanded in beaches is the goal. I don't see this detector helping with that. Beach hunting should be very simple. If it beeps dig it. If you want to play with target trace and gps I think those features are better off in the dirt. JMHO __________________ |

It will be really interesting to see if the CTX is worth the premium over an E-Trac.

If the stories that have begun to pop up about the CTX turn out to be true, I'm going to seriously look into purchasing one. The areas I hunt have all been hit very hard...will keep the 6 month old Etrac to use as a backup!
