Wink Brain F*rt at the beach!

Wonder if anyone else out there has had this happen, or am I the only idiot on this site??!? Was getting lots of "hits" as I swung the coil this morning when I stopped to chat with another Detector at the beach. We get done and I go on my merry way looking for treasure. After about 20 minutes I am not getting any more beeps and wonder whats up. I glance down to my display and notice it is blank!
I FORGOT TO TURN THE UNIT BACK ON AFTER MY CHAT!!!!
I still did OK though, ended up with $6.28 in clad!

OK I'll be brave and own up to doing that also

Just the other day in fact I was out with the X-terra and forgot my headphones. I was in a heavy trash area so every time I put the detector down to dig I was getting signals under the coil. To combat this I turned it off every time I put it down to dig.
I picked it up on two occasions and started detecting without turning it back on.
I did realise within one minute though as this area was so full of trash I knew something had to be wrong cause I was getting nothing all of a sudden..

C'mon there must be more brave enough to own up..

I have had my batteries run out and didn't notice for 15 minutes or so, about the same thing.

No, I can't say I've ever forgotten to turn it back on, but a few of the detectors I've used had rather loose knobs for the discrimination, sensitivity, threshold, etc. and I have detected whole areas to find the knob had turned by itself.

Generally if I don't hear any beeps after 5 min of detecting I check the controls.
