Default Saturday quarry hunt

Hey everyone!

Went for a hunt before work with SalemScott in some woods he researched with some sort of quarry, complete with cellar hole form the foreman's house.

We wandered around for a while trying to find the foreman's house, and eventually came across it just off the path. There's also a well or two nearby.

There was poison ivy everywhere just off the path and in some places where I wanted to swing. Don't think I got it, but just the thought of it made me itch. I also made a friend. He sort of slithered off the path in front and then stopped. I tugged on his tail a bit and he got mad, making the classic "S" maneuver. Just a harmless Garter snake.

So I'm walking along the narrow path from the foundation and get the first somewhat deeper non-junk signal. (very trashy area). And out came the foreman's pocket watch! Or someone else's.

Then a bit later we went into the woods more, where the workers would have camped, and up the hill a bit, I got a nice steady zinc signal (59) and pulled this indian at 3 inches. 1908. It looks like it was dropped in mint condition, but unfortunately, something's happened to the metal around the edges and on the back. Still an indian, and only my 3rd ever!

We also had some bikers zipping by and hitting jumps on the trails. Pretty impressive stuff.

Thanks for looking and HH

And... it's official. I have poison ivy lol At least I tried to stay out of it for the most part.

Does anyone know how to identify the pocket watch? I can't find a match anywhere online.

have you tried soaking that watch in super iron out? There should be on the back some engravings or etchings if you can get rid of the staining and look at it with a loupe!

Best of luck and KT does like the watch! very cool!

Thanks King! I will try the "super iron out". But if I can't find it, I'll use CLR. And yes, I do love the watch. A pocket watch, especially back then, seems like a rather personal item to drop. I love finding them, even though I've only found one other. Because of where it was found, I'm guessing it dates somewhere in the late 1800's, but who knows at this point. There are a bunch of loose gears and parts that kept falling out when I cleaned it, so they're just sitting inside there - I need to make sure nothing falls out.
