Default My beach gear

Best thing to get for beach detecting, apart from a hat and sunscreen lotion is a great scoop.
I have 3 of them, the first is a small hand held sand scoop, which i am finding is great for playgrounds, coins not deep their and you dont want to disturb to much sand in them.

Next scoop i have is the aluminium hand held scoop,

The last scoop i got is a custom made one, built to last and is long, i am 6ft tall this scoop when standing comes to my shoulder height, i tend to drag it behind me when i detect, this leaves a line where i been and makes a nice grid pattern to search on a beach.

Only thing i feel i need to change on it is to drill some holes in the bottom of the bucket.

you need a lot more holes on the full-sized scoop, other than that you look good to go

Default the trick

The trick with the full size scoop, unless your a gym junkie, the scoop is heavy without sand in it, is really heavy with sand in it.
So i scoop the sand up and tip it to the right of the hole in the process some sand does pour out, then wave coil back over it, if coil tells me its in the sand plug i get the pro pointer out, otherwise i go back into the original hole.
The holes are that size as our most valued coin (clad) is a $2, this coin is just bigger than the holes in the scoop.

May want to add a longer lip on that scoop, and more holes, will make life a lot easier.
