Cool Newbie, 1st SILVER Ring....w/F2

Day 4 of my MD'n sic'ness.

Sun break, so thought I would go back to the park where I have been do'n my learn'n.
This is the 3rd day in a row for me there. Its very close to home and has a tot lot, skate bowl, bb courts, horse shoe pits, High School tennis courts and softball field at far end and the city swimming pool near the tot lot. about 4 acres of grass tying all this together. Maybe hunted out, but lots of opportunity for restocking...and trash to learn from

Noticed battery down to second bar, rain come'n, so on my way to the van, was swinging with only last three catagories active, and hit a high tone that made me go back and look for repeatable note...
Got it!!.....
I don't put much emphasis on the VID, (Digger sez just listen, dig it all....and learn) so I dont remember exactly what the numbers were, but they suggested I might find a dime or copper (pre '82) penny (68-70), but were bouncing to the 50's too.
Set PP mode
Found my bulls eye, depth pretty shallow
Got my HarborFrieght PP,and hit a tone with no digging.
Probed with my fiberglass rod probe and could not feel it. (ususally means pull tab, and probe going through the holes)
Used probe/screwdriver to excavate the tab.....

...

huh....
...

RING .....

Looked pretty cheapish, it was found 'tween the sand box and climbing/slide equipmemnt, in a bare area that was just barely not a puddle.
Cleaned it enough to put in pocket and figure it out at home.

I am too new to have a formal 'list' of 'want to find' yet, and have just been trying real hard to concentrate on learning the F2 and understanding its language. So this was a real shock... especially since I had worked that area yesterday, but avoided the bare area, 'cuz it was a puddle then.

At home, cleaned it up. Found the NF925 mark that Mr.digger27 loves so much. (thanks again, would not have known about that mark if not for your posts)
And then got really excited ! ....... 3.437 grams of Sterling Silver

Very wierd setting and two, "gems" (glass?) Pretty sparkly tho
At first, thought it was very bent up, when full of dirt.....
Hard to show in pics but it is not bent, just an unusual shape.

Very good, Grasshopper...I knew you would be good at this.
Great instincts, and you're just starting, too.
Congratz!

Default Cooooooolllll!

It's the first of many great finds.

The surgeon general warns about addictive food and drug options. Why don't metal detectors come with the same warning?

HA HA KT was addicted on his third hunt when He recovered 38 cents! We all remember when we got the "fever".

Good start to the hobby. Im still waiting for my first ring. Been detecting since january. Only silver to date, a 1920 merc i found in a park i researched from a 1912 map of my town, i found on the internet. Once your research pays off, you are hooked for sure, because now you feel you are starting to get it. Keep swinging all and happy hunting.
