I reccomend the tesoro compadre and the fisher f2. Just decide whether you want to target ID screen ( f2 ) , or not ( compadre ) , and then you have your answer. Simple as that

And what i never figured out is what is high mineralized soil?
And how do you fix it is from the coil or you have to ground balance it

I recommend saving up a little more money and buying something you can work with for a while.

Most low cost detectors have a factory set ground balance and cant be changed , however many places have soil with so much of one type of mineral or another that the factory setting isnt good enough , or atleast isnt as good as it should be , this is the deal with mineralized soil. Unless you have a more expensive detector with the ability to adjust the ground balance setting you really cant do anything about it , you just put up with some false signals and learn how to use the machine that way.

If a screen isn't important to you the Compadre is the way to go. If you want more target information the F2 would be a great detector as well. They're both highly recommended by Digger27. You can't go wrong with either one. The compadre is the go to jewelry detector and relic machine. It will perform extremely well in iron rich sites and you will never second guess the compadre.

Good choice. My experience with the F2 is very disappointing. Apparently it is very sensitive and needs to be neutered to work properly. Just MHO.

Shame that you feel the need to inject venom into every F2 thread now. I understand your dissatisfaction, however there are far more happy F2 owners out there than not. It's a great little machine that sees relatively deep, has lightnig fast recovery, and fairly accurate TID's.

I'm a MineLab guy, but I still love my little F2. I'll likely never get rid of it.

Both machines i think are good but i really want to try out the Compadre
the only think i dont like about both is that you cant manually ground balance it:/ which sucks cause i always change my terrains and different types of soils but i could work my way around it

I use the F2 and if a coin is underneath it will pick it up no matter what the soil condition. I found a 14 gram platinum ring last year with the F2 in salt water and all I know is that sucker rang LOUd. Now I also have the F5 and it also working well. I think most detectors do a good job as long as you don't get a LEMON. The old days - we all knew what that meant and it wasn't metal detectors. It was all about autos, lots of lemons in the 60's, 70's, 80's

Default Looking for first detector to be used at the beach and lake

Hey, First time buyer here. I was hoping someone could help me find a relatively simple to operate detector that will work at the water. I have a budget of about $500. Having looked on the net I know my budget is low. Any help would be appreciated. Kate.
