Default Rare park hunt.

My work brought me to Newburgh, N.Y..I had three hours to hunt before sunset so I headed to a nearby park to do some lawn hunting.Found lots of clad, but also found two mercs(one had a wheat stuck to it)and a '52 Warshington(I believe his headquarters was nearby)If anyone lives around Newburgh and knows of some cellarholes,I'll be working up there all this week.P.M. hunt?????

I,d dig the plug and the silver would still be in the hole,so around 5 or 6"s.The soil was VERY dry.

Nice digs, FastFrank. Looks like you dug quite a bit of clad too. If I have a limited amount of time in a spot to hunt, I usually only concentrate on the deeper targets to maximize my chances of finding the older coins. This works if the ground I'm detecting at has not been turned over, meaning the deeper the targets, the older the coins. So, if I was starting to find silver/wheats at 5-6", I would dig all the higher toned signals from 5" to as deep as my machine will allow, and pass up all the shallower penny/dime signals. I never pass up any quarter signals, however.

Congrats,
Raphis
Dan

Nice hunt and nice silvers, especially the 11 cent piece. You better return the Queen's keys before she finds out or you might not be detecting anymore!

Hunt Happy!
