Default Still Riding The Silver Express!! 34 More This Week!

Hello My Friends!

My silver digging frenzy this year is still going strong. As each week passes by, I keep saying to myself, "It's going to slow down", but so far it hasn't. I had some very productive hunts this week in the turf, along with a couple of firsts. The highlight of the week has to be my 13 silver day (with only 7 wheat pennies) from a spot that has been pounded into submission by one of my buddies over the years. With all the gopher action in this spot coupled with the noisiest ground I've ever hunted at (iron, black sand, EMI, you name it), I will never forget this hunt that produced my first ever 4 Silver quarter day, along with a dime trifecta, and my first ever South African 3 pence (1932). My buddies, Greg(GStout76) and Brett(Thatsit) were hunting with me. I think we were all jaded from the noise after that hunt. I know I was, but that's a good reason why those coins were still hiding there, just waiting to be found. My other hunts this week with Curt(Bibleman) and Mike(Dana Point) were productive also. On one of those hunts, I ended up finding two pieces of the same silver Rosie. That's something I've only been able to accomplish a small handful of times. The two pieces were about 8 ft apart from each other. All of the items in the pics were found with my Explorer SE with the Pro Coil. I picked up a set of Killer B headphones also, and prefer these to my old Grey Ghosts. The sounds/tones are just sharper with the Killer B's. The only problem I'm having with them is that the bees are actually running into my headphones. I think they are attracted to the large, yellow colored bee on the side of the phones. The sound of a bee hitting the side of the phones is amplified when you're wearing them. It's happened numerous times in the past couple of weeks. I guess I'll have to get used to it.

This week's finds brings my silver coin count for the year to 282, which is around a 20 silver/week average. I'd be ecstatic if I could keep this pace a little longer, but I'm prepared for the drought, as it goes for a silver coin hunter!

Thanks for looking!
Keep The Passion High!

Raphis
Dan

Silver train? For you it is a silver jetliner. I can't believe the amounts of silver you snag. I don't know of anyone on the East coast with the exception of maybe Randy who pulls in those insane amounts of silver. Post all the clad you find in a pic too. I wanna see how that compares. Were you digging in TTF mode if the Explorer has it that is...Congrats Dan!!

So awesome! I'm envious of your hunting spots! So far this year I've only managed to pull two silvers (both mercs) and 14 wheats. Keep at 'em!

Clad? Sean, I hate posting clad. When I hunt, I look for the oldies with one exception...I don't pass up quarter signals. This week, I probably found around 50-60 quarters, and a bunch of the early 60's-70's pennies/dimes that are hard to pass up. I don't dig very many low conductors, unless I hear a semi deep nickel signal, or when the deeper higher tones are too few and far between. In the parks, which I hunt 99% of the time, aluminum is the predominant target, so I prefer to hunt in Conductive sounds with just a small amount of iron mask. Been using these settings for 5 years now. Won't change them for anything.

Had to show my wife this post. 282 Silver YTD! I just can't fathom it. After she read the post she walked over and picked up my Silver Canister which has a total of 8 Silver, looked at me and just shook her head.

Unreal man....You must be hunting in places where there aren't many beeperists or a lack of minelab users or dedicated hunters. In my town there are dozens of beeperists that I know. Almost impossible to find a virgin site. And there are NO virgin parks at all. The parks I get to hunt have soil that doesn't allow a machine like mine to find 'deep' goodies. The deepest silver in my town is 4 inches, 5 is stretching it and my machine will not give a good reading at all beyond 4 inches. I think when I finally move somewhere where the soil is good my E-trac will really begin to shine.

Your posts make me sick.

Rick, you've got to be kidding, right? I live in Los Angeles....it's the Minelab capitol of the world! There's a lot of serious silver hunters here. Trust me...no parks around here are virgin by a longshot. All of my buddies are using top of the line Minelab machines in our local turf. I'm just thankful I live in an area where there were millions of park patrons in the 30's-60's all depositing their silver coins in hundreds of parks around here. And to this day, those tough to find silver coins are still being dug up by patient, persistent, and experienced hunters.

Then you've got some amazing parks. Is anyone else there posting numbers close to yours?

One of my buddies just got over the 100 count last week, while two of my buddies, Greg(GStout76) and Curt(Bibleman) are very close to 100. Nobody I know of here has found over 110 so far. Few hunt as often as I do also. Plus, I've been hunting for over 20 years. I hunt about 3 times a week, and average about 7-9 hrs a hunt. Yes, the parks here are/were amazing, but with the acquisition of my Explorer, it felt like the parks were never hunted. The parks around here are very trashy. I'm married to my SE. I'm not gonna let her go! Detecting is my passion. I'm addicted....it's a healthy addiction!

Very nice Dan! Those silvers are banging! They cleaned up very well. Congrats on your huge silver week. That hunt on Saturday was sweet. It was pretty cool to see you do your thing. Those finds you and Greg got were the best. Those barbers were my favorite along with the double quarter dig you did on that shallow hole..LOL.....gophers...they need to toss some my way...LOL.....It's all good, I am not one to give up and will keep at for sure. And you were right about that dirt at that spot, that was insane. I thought someone was playing 20 flutes in my ears...LOL... I will be out hunting tomorrow, so maybe I will see you around. Thanks for hunting the other day and catch ya soon.

Dan, Congrats on another amazing week. Your weekly totals look like my annual totals... That South African silver is really cool! I hope you don't have a drought as it is fun seeing your finds each week. Jason
