Hey guys just wondering if any of you have tried any of the eneloop batteries and can give a comparison between those and the standard AA rechargeables.

Enloops are the whip from everything I have heard. Unfortunatly I heard about them after I had bought Tenergy Centuras.
Both are LSD rechargables and the centuras are wonderful, I have no complaints. But if I had to do it over I would have gone with the enloops. The biggest difference from standard old school rechargables is they are low self discharge so they can be stored without going dead in a month. They hold 80-90% thier charge for years. __________________ |

I bought some Eneloop batteries a little while back, and have just got
hold of another 16. They are the best batteries I've used. Excellent in my camera, and I now have them in my detector. I would advise getting an intelligent charger. This helps to prevent you ruining your batteries, by "cooking" them. __________________ |

I got a tip from a good friend about some batteries and they turned out to be the eneloops. I have got to say that I wish I had gotten them sooner. I have since bought 16 more to power everything in my house.
And yes, get a smartcharger and only use the "trickle" method to recharge. It only takes an hour anyways. Greg __________________ |

A good charger is the life of rechargable batteries... they will work good if you spend a bit of money in a good charger.

Looked at the ad for the AAA eneloop batteries. They have a 800 mah rating, which is lower than otheres I have used. The part where they hold 75% of the charge for three years is interesting. I use Eveready Copper top rechargables in AA the have a 2000 mha
rating and I love them, but they won't hold a charge for three years. |

Low self discharge Eneloops and Ray-o-vac Hybrids, love them for all my AA and AAA needs.
(Ray-o-Vac cheaper and available locally at Target) In my experience the MAH rating is not a good way to compare the low self discharge NiMH's to the regular NiMH's. Regular 2500mah Everready, (really Neverready), do not last as well as 2100mah Ray-o-vac, or 1900 mah Eneloops in any of my three, much used, digital cameras. Same for AAA Eneloops..ie lower MAH rating, but last much better in all my applications, including flashlights, remotes, etc. Just my experience using the low discharge types for the last 5 years. __________________ |

I do the same, but as I mentioned previously, the AA Eneloop batteries I have in my camera perform way above any other batteries I have tried. They are rated at 2000mAh. Although in practice they are just under that figure. In fact most of the batteries I have come out at under 2000mAh. Even ones a couple of years old rated at 2500 - 2700mAh. Don't always believe what you read on the label. __________________ |

Do you happen to know anyone using then in a V3i? If so, what kind of hours do they get when hunting? Thanks, Martin

Anyone using these batteries (AA size) in a Tesoro Sand Shark? Wondering about the voltage.....
Also, can anyone recommend a good "smart-charger" at a reasonable cost for these batteries? |

As others have said, using an intelligent charger will save you having to throw batteries away. They wont (or shouldn't) cook your batteries like many chargers will. That's what ruins them. __________________ |

How do you know if you have a smart charger? I have two Energizer rechargers. One charges only AA. The other charges AA, AAA & 9V, but I don't recall the packaging saying smart charger. My Energizer 9V's work real well in my detector, but using alkaline batteries in my camera is getting expensive that camera just eats them up. Does the eneloop AA's really work that well in high drain devices?

When fully charged, it will maintain a very small trickle charge. This is the one I use (In have two) http://www.batterylogic.co.uk/techno...line-BL700.asp __________________ |
