Default Minelab Taking Advantage of East Coast Enthusiasts?

OK, so why are the East Coast Minelab Day hunts TWICE as expensive as anywhere else?

Maybe the fee was set by the co-sponsors of the hunt, check with them.

"National Metal Detecting Day." Sounds pretty regal and all-inclusive. Sounds like Minelab is doing us ALL a favor.. or are they just having a big sale?

Could it have something to do with the east coast having a much longer history, metal use wise? Couldn't be cheap or easy to secure an decent hunt site, that isn't history protected, and still likely to produce.

Let me think about this for a minute.. $80.00 to get into a seeded hunt with 500 other rabid metal detectorists. Do they even give you a T-shirt and a pat on the butt?

I don't know the area, but seeded or not, it's still the oldest part of this country. Can only guess at how much of the ground is controlled in some manner.

I was gonna go, but LIBear dumped me for his wife! Can you imagine?

I thought about going until John sent me the details. I was shocked! I have been to nice seeded hunts out west where you got a T-shirt and a meal with the hunt, competed against 150-guys and gals and got a shot at a few detectors for $35.00.

By the time you drive or fly to Atlantic City, get a room and park your car, you're already down a few hundred dollars. Now they want $160.00 to hunt the beach for cash and prizes? Are sponsors, employees and club members eligible for those prizes?

Nah, too rich for my blood. I'll just hang with my Long Island buds.

Says the guy whos website says Our Gold Prospecting Day Trips start at just $359.00-per person

Two full days of gold prospecting just $749.00

Does that include butt pats and feet rubs?

Well you have to get a permit from the city and then pay for the meals which is 59.00 a person that you dont have to pay for. I'm going there. And most of the registration fees are given to the task force
