Hey it took me 3 days searching to find a Zincoln, your doing good! I carried 2 clear rulers when I started, I would get a hit then sweep over the target finding its center while watching for steady TID number and depth! Then I would Lay a ruler over the target center and move 90 degrees, and sweep to find the target under my Ruler then lay the second ruler across the first! Then I would use the MDs pinpoint mode, and the crossed rulers and MD pinpoint should be the same spot. That enabled me to visually see and realize where my elliptical solid coils pinpoint spot is! My Minelab Pinpoints directly below where the coil bolts to the lower shaft! That's about 1.5 inches back from the center! Good Luck and Happy Hunting.....

Thanks guys!

It seems like in pinpoint mode it sounds at the edge of my coil first. I was thinking that meant the target was in the center, but after watching videos, i see i have to let go of pinpoint and press it again to minimize the search area. I was digging about 3 - 4 inches off every time

Hey SGWiley,

Understanding your coil will also make pinpointing easier. Here is a link for coil explanations. It is a good read: http://metaldetectingworld.com/search_coil_types.shtml

Also, after finding your target, rotate 90 degrees and hit the area again. This will allow you to box in your target. I call it making a "cross" over your target. Another added advantage to crossing the target is you pick up another set of readings to help verify what you think your target maybe.

Best of luck,

Brian
