Default Spanish Silver

My brother found this one over the weekend.
I believe it is a 1/2 Spanish Reale (approx 17mm accross).
By far the best find of the year between the two of us.

My brother found the coin using my XLT in a field - Chester County here in Pennsylvania. Interesting to find a Spanish coin in a Pennsylvania field, but I've read that Spanish silver was "legal tender" in the US until the 1850's. I dug up an 1875 Seated Liberty dime the same day.

My group has found a few of those little buggers, but none look as good as that one.

Bud, you made your ancestors proud!
