Talking 1940's house hunt, 42 old cents including silver!!!

I uploaded a video for you YouTubers out there. All of my videos since a few years ago are in HD - so it won't look like garbage. Hope you enjoy!

I decided to call a detecting buddy of mine this morning to see if he wanted to beep anywhere today. Turns out he'd already gone to a spot I was considering going to today....He found a merc there! He was already done too...So I thought, "What the heck, if he can find a silver dime there I can find one too!"

Off I went in my car and headed to this awesome spot that produced a silver quarter last time I was there.

I geared up - put on my new dinky dollar general headphones that reek and started beeping down the sidewalk. I wasn't finding much except the occasional memorial or piece of copper and was about to cross the street when a guy from his house yells, "You finding anything?". I said, "Nah, just some pennies, mind if I hunt your yard?". He replied with the best thing I've heard all week with a resounding, "Yeah, go right ahead, enjoy!".

I just knew before I even started that this 40s yard HAD to have some old coins in it...including that elusive shiny stuff. My first few targets were just clad and other junk. Then I got a really sweet 06-48 or something, no whistle. I thought, "clad half or copper pipe".

Cool! A Kennedy half. This would be my fourth one ever. Pretty rare - but worth only 50 cents. I don't care. I'm keeping it. It's different.

I went towards the front of the yard and got a nice sounding 12-13. It didn't change much so I thought it would be a new nickel. It was only 2 inches deep or so. Here's what was in the hole.

Yay, a buffalo nickle. I never find these. This is my 5th or 6th one ever.

The next signal I got was next to the road in the yard. I was getting a nice 11-44, bouncing to 11-45. It was about 4 inches deep and flutey. Here's what I came up with.

Woot! Silver!! Yay!

Not 2 minutes later I got a solid 11-46, 11-47. It was reading about 3 inches deep. I cut the plug and this was in the hole, looking all amazing and stuff.

Could it get any better? At that point my water bottle ran out and I was happy with what I found. So I went back to the car and went home happy as can be. Here are the rest of the pics. Thanks for looking and HH!

I was whispering because one of my cats was asleep in the room. The other was meowing his head off.

Nice rug? That's a hand towel I put on a window sill where there was ample light to shoot my video. But thanks anyways.

Appreciate the comments everyone. I've been on a lucky streak lately.

Sweet, a multi silver day with a hard to find Kennedy half dollar. I think people find more silver halves because they used them more often than we do now, I mean, I can't remember the last time I actually got a half dollar in pocket change. Congrats on a great hunt.

I have found in the past that if someone asks if you are finding anything or starts a conversation with you while you are detecting, they will usually give you permission to hunt their yard.

So far I've found 3 silver halves and 4 clad ones. The silver ones are 100 times more fun to find.

@hook, you have 12 silver coins so far this year? I'm up to 15. BUT, you have more large silvers. I'm stuck with 1 war nickel, 4 silver quarters and 9 silver dimes. Total silver including jewelry is 20.

Thanks for the tip cowboy! I'm going to have to try this some more. I love when people allow you to hunt their old property. Makes your whole day.

Ahh, you son of a gun!

Love it when people are kind as that fellow was. Most people round here just shake their heads and ask questions out of rude nosiness and not real curiousity.

I'm glad you pulled some nice coin out of the soil! Congrats!

Keep it coming

p.s.- I'm eagerly awaiting my first half also, found two modern dollar coins but no halves! I wouldn't care if it was clad either!! HH
