Default Finally!!!

Been a while since I have been here to the forum. FINALLY have the etrac ordered from NED and should have it shortly after I get home from this work trip. Is there anything I can do that will kinda get the learning curve started for this machine? This is my first machine, so want to kinda get a jump on it so when it gets here, I can get out the door and get started!

I don't have an etrac yet but I am going to be buying one soon. I have been playing around with this E-Trac emulator.

Download the emulator and then install it. Once it is installed you need to download the zip files below and save them in the following folder on your computer: C:\Program Files\EtracEm-V1-en\datazips Once you have done this you can open the emulator from the icon Etrac icon on your desktop. In the program goto file, target file zips and click on the file you want to use. I think it is a pretty cool emulator.

I was new to the Etrac last fall. The most common recomendation is to stay in the facotry coin mode until you get used to the display and tones. Then get the Etrac book by Andy Sabisch sooner than later. It will really shorten the learning curve. Once you have become more comfortable after a few months you may want to consider using the "two tone ferrous" or "TTF" program from the link below. Good information.

Holy cow I noticed it is your first machine. It is a machine you can really grow into but you really want to stay with the basic factory programs while you learn to detect. Factory modes work great in my opinion and I frequently still use the factory coin mode. Metal detecting in general can be a little daunting at first so if you get frustrated or feel like you are not making progress get back to this forum for help.
