Default Foreign silver today...

I got out with Dirt Lizard to explore a couple new park locations this morning. Hunting was kinda slow, not many targets, and the ones I dug were deep. My best find today was this...[IMG][/IMG] I figured I was digging a worn out silver quarter by the vdi, I sure wasn't expecting a US/Philippine 20 centavo coin...Other than that, I dug a bullet, $3 something in clad, half a dozen Wheats, and a tiny football charm that took forever to find in the pile of dirt...[IMG][/IMG] I'll sort and clean the keepers and post another pic or 2 later. Thanks for looking!

All the Wheats were 40's and 50's, nothing special there...The 20 centavo piece, on the other hand, is a first for me, and way cooler than digging a Merc or Washington quarter. [IMG][/IMG]The silver composition is 75%, and it was minted in Denver, it has the 'D' to the left of the date...[IMG][/IMG] Has anyone else ever found one of these?

That's a KM#182, 75% silver! Very cool find, Captain Silver. Some interesting history behind that coin for sure. The Philippines had unique coins that were minted in that period (minted overseas then transported). Makes me ponder a metal detecting trip to PI...

I was looking at this coin in the book the other night thinking how I would place it high on my "I'd love to find one of those someday" list. I find the image of the barefoot girl with the hammer very appealing. Plus the connection to WW2 makes it more so. A truly excellent find, way to go! Congrats.

Hunt Happy!

I've never seen one of those posted on this forum. That's a pretty cool find Captain, way cooler than a Merc, Rosie or Washington plus now you can say you found a 20 cent silver.
