Hello board. I do not know a thing about MDing but I want to give it a try. I live around 5 miles from the beach in SC. I only have around $500 to spend. Can I get a few suggestions for a good detector and accessories needed to get started hunting on the beach. Thanks Jason.

Wrote an article, "Beach and Water Detecting 101: Getting Started.", for Lost Treasure magazine last year. You can read it here http://www.terrysoloman.com/id18.html With your budget, I would concentrate on dry sand hunting with something like a Garrett Ace 250, Tesoro Compadre, or Fisher F2. Once you have found a few Items to sell and saved up a few dollars, you can buy a Pulse Induction machine and move into the wet sand and water. Good Luck!

Good article for a newbie like me. I still need to do more research before I buy a detector. I would like a detector that goes from the beach saltwater low tide line up the the high tide dry sand. I also want something I can do the mountain streams with for gold. I dont dive so most water trips will be ankle deep. A WP coil is a must.
