Default Brass... the new gold...

I went to visit my mom this morning and she loves watching those jewelry shopping channels so of course we watched it for a while...

What I saw was gold plate over brass rings and gold over silver as well as many rings today in silver coming out with diamonds of all colors in them...

Just look at these prices although this isn't what we were watching it was one of those cable jewelry channels...

Of course not CJ... I used to play golf in my younger years

What I am saying those hunters who go after fresh drops might be in for a huge surprise when they send off what they think is a ounce of gold and get a check for $50 back

I already have found 3 Silver rings with real diamonds. With the price of precious metals, it's the wave of the future. Golf is for people who can't FISH!!!

Craig don't pump up the market for the cheep stuff,i like solid gold,it will probally take off because as the economy get's weaker, the ability for the average joe to buy solid gold drop's,it's happening now,as i found more sterling silver, and tungsten carbide ring's this past summer water hunting & only 1 gold, your in a good spot up thier finding the older gold, because the new gold is drying up,,earl

Craig 2 copper and one brass ring so far for 2012

I think the brass ring had gold plate on it.

This sort of thing should be against the law on the beach!!

I say either wear your good stuff to the beach or stay home!!!

I have to agree with you on this one.
My wife was trying to find a gold necklace for me to replace the one I had to sell a while ago she got my old one from wally world 6-7 years ago 14 k yellow gold. Well she stopped at a few stores trying to find the same one come to find out they (the stores) are sending them back because they aren't selling no one can afford to buy them pretty sad I know.

Heck Craig a couple of jewelry chains sell nothing but silver and CZ's or diamonds now. No gold in the store to speak of. Kinda crazy if you ask me but when you buy gold now they weigh it on the spot.......

Jack... I don't worry about this because I rarely hunt fresh drop beaches... most of the places and area's I hunt don't get any swimmers these days... I'll stick with the places that no longer look like inviting to most beach users

I've had a good year as far as the number of rings (15) I've found, but only one of them was gold. I think things are definitely changing out there but it also has a lot to do with where you hunt and the conditions. I believe that there is still plenty of gold out there but we didn't have a particularly hot summer and are having a pretty mild winter which both mean fewer finds. There is definitely much more affordable jewelry out there so all our gold ring to non-gold ring ratios will go down. HH!

Those don't exist in FL., darn it. Those beaches have added more sand and built high rise condos advertising them as the "most private" condo's on the coast. We will be the first to get the brass jewelery.
