Most detector manuals say you can use rechargeable batteries but they recommend "high quality alkaline" batteries.

Rechargeables generally do not have the same capacity(mAh) and are lower voltage(1.2VDC vice 1.5VDC) to start when compared to alkaline.

Rechargeable batteries have their place, but if I used them I'd carry a spare set of alkalines just in case... I have a spare set with me when I'm going on an all day hunt anyway...

I agree they are the best. Amazon has them. You can get 2 chargers, they come with 4 battiers each total of 8. Then you can get 8 more for just over $45 thats for every thing. Worth every penny. I have a Minelab Safari that use to eat up duracells. Genix NiZn has tamed the hungry beast. They last a good long time.

Tenergy Centura is a good low self discharge NiMH battery that works great when tested in my deer trail cameras last fall.

I have 8 AA's on the way to use in my AT Pro. If they work as well as the C size they will be a winnah.

I'm waiting for my sand shark too and want to know if anyone compared with Sanyo Eneloops ...
I think they are low self discharge also ... And some say that PowerGenix NiZn self discharge in 2 weeks on average ...
