Default Any good info on making a coil?

I am wanting to play around with some pvc and make large coil that will work with my pioneer 101. This is just something to make and test out and then maybe experiment with different sizes and shapes. Does anyone have any websites that have good info on making coils?

Here's quite a bit of tekky info on detectors. Buried inside it are a few articles on coil construction, but you'll have to dig for it.

Just know that coil-winding isn't for the faint of heart. Designing a coil takes math (not hard math, but it's almost all math). Winding a coil can be a problem, and once a coil is wound, it must be made COMPLETELY inflexible while keeping it light enough for use in the field.

I do electronics, as a hobby, and this site has a lot of info on metal detectors, winding coils. He does a fair job of writing, where it's not overly technical, but discriptive and detailed enough to follow along. http://www3.telus.net/chemelec/Projects/Projects.htm

He has quite a few metal detector related projects, coil winding jig, you'll have to look around a little. The projects are roughly grouped, but in a single list. You can find even more information, photos and such, in other areas of the site. The link goes straight to the projects page, there is a lot more there.
