Why, thanks! I am going to be doing more research and less digging as the summer wears on, and spending more time in the water as well, gotta get some more gold to finance my new E-Trac.

But I will still get out to the site a time or two a month and will still update this thread.

Figured it's time for an update...

I haven't been able to get back to the site but I have done considerable research into the people who lived and worked in this town and I have found some living descendants of the original founders!! I have also started establishing a timeline for events here.

One of the still owners was VERY important in the founding of Bay County Florida and of Panama City as well.

I now have my E-Trac and am getting pretty familiar with it so I hope to maybe get a couple hours on-site with it next week one day. We have to go out of town on the 17th of this month for 8 days but after we return and settle back in, I will try to get weekly hunts back in at this site.

Sorry for the gap in reports but hopefully soon I'll have more to report...

Can't tell by picture size? But that piece you think is a radiator cap may be the guts out of a pressure relief valve on a water heater? If you don't remove that part a scrap yard only pays refinery price for the bronze part of it.

It could be used to keep a still from blowing up :lol:

*** UPDATE *** Next dig date scheduled!

I've finally gotten some time free and gotten with the landowner at this site and hopefully (weather permitting) will be back on site for a several hour hunt with my E-Trac (first time with it on this site).

The date is July 31st so keep an eye out on this thread for - hopefully - more finds and more unearthed history!

Don't know what happened, but most of the pictures are gone from the thread...

I will be going out again starting after the Thanksgiving holiday and will be working it through the winter again and will be posting more pics.

Got out today, not much to report...

Only got to spend a couple hours there today, I need a GOOD 5 or 6 hours. One of my goals is to get all the Iron and trash out of the ground at the Company store site. I just KNOW there's some goodies in the ground there. I did find a few more pieces of broken glass and burnt wood, so I am convinced at some point in the past the Company Store burned down.

Here's a wingnut that I think is more of a modern item...

This is a small disc, about the size of a dime. It was right near the edge of the store.

This is part of a large nail.

This is some concrete with a square hole in the center that had some rotting wood in the center. The square hole is just the size of a 4x4.

This is a roofing nail on the left and on the right, a "blob" of something that is quite heavy for its size and sets off the pinpointer and comes up 18/22 on the E-Trac.

So that's really the highlights of the day. But it was a BEAUTIFUL day to be out swingin'!
