I hit an old park today and noticed what I thought looked like an old walkway or cart path so I concentrated on it and I'm glad I did. I found these in about an hour and a half before my knee called it quits.

Was a very iffy target but sounded good at 10 inches deep.

The front has an eagle and shield that I can make out.

Last find of the day was this Merc. I disturbed an ant nest as ants were all over my gloves when I pulled her out of the hole.

First time I ever found more than one IH in a single hunt.
Can't make out the date on this one but it was a strange 21-28 on the e-trac.

Thought I would elaborate on my first post

From 1859 to 1864 the IH penny was 88% copper and 12% nickel. In 1865 the composition was changed to 95% copper and 5% tin & zinc. The weight was also changed from 72 grains down to 48, thus the term "fatty". This might explain the low CO #s on the E-Trac.
Again, congrats on a good hunt.

awesome! but it's not really called a ball button.what you have is a officers staff button.it's a 3 piece button where as regular issued CW buttons are 2 piece, nice find!
