I wondered after I had posted this, how people from outside of the UK
would take it.

This is my personal opinion

Although most people here hold the Royal Family in high regard, that
doesn't necessarily go for all of the Royal family. The Queen is generally
liked, as are William and Harry. Charles is often thought to be a touch
eccentric in a harmless sort of way. Camilla is a different issue all
together, you either like her or loathe her. (People still remember Diana)
I don't think anyone holds Fergie in high regard, and her ex-husband
Prince Andrew is generally seen as someone out to "feather his own
nest", in an obnoxious sort of way. You can be his friend if you are a
multi-millionaire. Their daughters keep a fairly low profile, but seemed to
be liked within the Royal family.
Prince Edward also keeps a low profile, but came in for some criticism
when he opted out of the usual "Royal thing" of doing some military
service. You see very little of Anne and even less of her husband.

As far as lampooning any of them goes, they are fair game. It no longer
means a one way trip to the Tower of London. :)
