I've been metal detecting on our property for the past few weeks. I have cleaned up lots garbage and these are the items I've kept. I know there's nothing of value but is there anything that's from the 1800s or older? They're were a few square nails that look really interesting. The cross is really lightweight and I'm thinking this is probably pretty obvious that it's not very old...or maybe it is? I have no idea what the big thing is, anyone know? I've read there's no way to tell how old get new the bullets and casings are. Then there's a belt buckle? Any thoughts if this could be very? It has a cross on it but it's not easy to see. It will fuel my flame if there's anything that shows life from the 1800s. On our property (in michigan) we have a house that was a one room school house. The school house was originally built sometime in the 1800s, burned down around 1900, then rebuilt in the same location. We have a creek through our back yard and there was a gristmill on or near our property (on plat maps). There was was also a post office and store on the property next to us (now there's nothing there). There's still lots of land to check out. Any ideas on any of this recommendations going forward? I appreciate your help!

Jusuit cross..(knobs on the cross, cross is symbolically formed by 3 nails)..were they active in your area?

Yes! You are right! I didn't see an anchor until you pointed it out! Thanks!

Are you sure those are not Templar crosses? If I have learned anything from watching the Oak island series, it is that they HAVE to be Templar crosses.

The little cross at right looks like the ones that used to be mailed out attached to a card asking for a donation back in the 1970s

Ok! I just found a lot more junk and this really old looking nail! What do you think? Am I getting closer to really old?

When I was young out Sunday school teacher handed out some of those crosses for us to keep in out pockets to remember to always think of Jesus. You could get them really cheap at the Christian book store back in the early 1980’s.

MANY cars used those oil sending units, though some were smaller than the one pictured. I had one sprout a leak (under pressure of course) on my musclecar and OH what a mess that caused!

The big oil pressure sending unit like the pictured would be for a car with a gauge, the small oil pressure sending units were just a switch for an idiot light.
