Hello all, this is my first find other than a few modern coins at an old 1800's farm, it appears to be a patriot or quaker image on both sides of this convex medallion. May have been a piece worn around the neck given the extra degradation at the 3/6/12 o'clock regions.

Feedback is welcomed! Thanks and happy hunting.

Cool find. How heavy is it? A medallion like a necklace would normally have a hole somewhere. A saddle Rosette crossed my mind too, but there doesn't appear to be an attachment device. I would say it could be a counter weight for a scale. Medical Apothecary sets had these for measuring increments of medicines. Merchants used them too. Perhaps a trade token of some sort. It sure looks old whatever it is.

In the 1st picture it looks like there may be a piece broken from both sides....could have been an attachment point maybe?? Cool Find!

Thanks for the feedback, it is pretty heavy, much heavier than it looks. Still a mystery as to what it is but it's a neat conversation piece. Let me know if you have any other ideas.
