I finally was able to get out on the beach today with the Vanquish. I haven’t had a lot of time with this detector yet but I really like it so far. I hunted between the dry sand wet sand and even with the coil in the water. Very stable, very quiet. Quite impressed. The depth on the beach is fantastic. In dry sand you can find clad at 10-12 inches no problem. I had to dig a little trash to figure out what some of the VDI’s were. The beach here in GA is extremely clean. Not many pull tabs or bottle caps at all. A few very sparse areas. I only covered a small section of this beach today so I’ve got plenty of more to hunt. The high tide here comes all the way up to the rocks and interestingly enough, that is where I found many of the coins and other targets. I did not find nearly as many targets along the water. Looking forward to getting back out for another try to see what I can find.

Congrats on the finds and glad to hear the 540 did good on the beach. Looking forward to seeing finds from tomorrow.

Cheers,

Nice to hear a story with a different detector on here. Good luck on your future hunts!

We’ve had some scattered showers today due to all of these storms around us but I managed to get out twice today for a couple of hunts. I tried a little further up the beach where there are a bit more houses and condominiums. I am finding more targets at the highest point of the beach so I have been hunting there. Found a good bit more clad today, a Brinks lock and some kind of zipper pull. I’m happy that I am finding a few different things. I’ve been doing really good at avoiding trash. Zero pull tabs today and 1 bottle cap. This beach is amazingly clean though. Still really impressed with how deep the Vanquish is. Amazed how stable the VDI has been and how well the pinpoint function works even at extreme depth. Others have said this is a turn on and go detector for the beach. It truly is a lot of fun to use. I’ve been hunting strictly in jewelry mode and have only had to adjust the sensitivity ever so slightly between the wet and dry sand. Certainly glad I picked it up.

How did the rest of the beach hunt go?

Cheers,
Ken

Hi Ken,

Very well thanks, I had a great time and I think the Vanquish did really well. It is certainly happy on the beach. Here is the majority of what I kept. Didn’t dig much trash honestly. When it was quiet, I would dig some more questionable targets so I ended up with a few pull tags, dock bolts and misc stuff. It’s pretty easy to pick out the trash with that thing overall though. It’s so stable and easy to use you really can’t go wrong.

I was hoping to at least find one ring there, but ended up finding a couple of earrings instead. Oh, and one other interesting thing was the large fishing weight. It’s 6 ounces. Looks like a lead egg. I’ve never used one that large surf fishing myself and I can’t even imagine casting with it. You could kill somebody with that thing.
