Hi all,
Found this giant coin today at an 1850's house. Surprised to find out that it was an 1833 EM Russian 10 Kopek coin! Definitely didn't expect my oldest coin thus far to be this one. It's HUGE! Fun to imagine the journey it's been on to get there.

Corvid.
Congratulations on a rare find. This coin
even in Russia is rare.
We call it the "Masonic Ten", because
the eagle holds masonic symbols and the emperor
Nicholas 1 was a mason.
Perhaps, it was brought by a Russian emigrant.

Thanks for the great information on the coin. One of my all time favorites for sure!

The coin was minted at the Yekaterinburg Mint.
Circulation - 6 968 000 pcs.
The popular name "wings down" (Unlike most eagles in coin arms of other periods, with wings-up)
Objectively, the coin is not rare, issued with a rather large circulation, but due to the peculiarities of the minting with a very low relief, in good condition there are very few of them.
The find is not really frequent, even for Russia. Congratulations.
