Help with flat button i.d.

I just found this button at only 1 inch. Could anyone help me to I.d and date it. It is obviously French.

Looks to me like a dial off an old lantern, the one you would turn to raise or lower the wick. I find many here in Germany. Different sizes too

If you can determine the backmark is French, than you probably know more about it than I would. The general time frame for the flat buttons range from 1790s to 1840s. Read the backmark for me and I will try to find out who the maker is, but if it is French than it may be a little harder as I don't have a reference work on French backmarks, not to say one doesn't exist.
