I'm a newbie so maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I use my Whites Bullseye II (I bought it used) it only picks things up about an inch away. Is this normal?

About an inch is what I get on mine too, but frankly, I like it. When it sounds off or vibrates, I know I am close to the target. I hear a lot about the Garrett Pro pointer, but when I watch the videos, they seem to spend a lot more time in the hole with their pinpointer locating it than I do. Also, seems to me like that annoying sound would really bother me over time. I really am pleased with my Bullseye.

Yep about a inch is all i get with both of mine. They work great. HH

Yeah, that's normal, and personally, I really wouldn't want it to detect any furhter.
