Out to my usual spots and they did not disappoint. The gold dolphin was a whim, I went to the Mts. looking for some snow to sled ride, came home with gold instead, the chain is gold filled but still looks real good. Lol The silver with black test good but the black appears to be " plastic". The charm bracelet is always nice to find. The " bell" was $6.00 but came with the chain. I looked this up and dang someone actually spent $85.00 on this!! Not me...lol Have a great day everyone...

It is impossible for me to comprehend....gold at 1.6k/oz and store owners do not test for the presence of gold? Something like that would NEVER happen at either store that I go to once in awhile just to look. WHY would an owner not be aware of the price of precious metals?

I live in E. TN. and I go further into the mountains to the thrift shops there. What I find are "church" thrift shops. These people really don't know what they have, they just put it out and hope that it sells. This particular store I have found MANY gold and silver items, if I lived a bit closer I'd go everyday....

That explains a lot, the shop owners here want EVERY penny out of EVERYTHING. I can’t even ever find good silverware for cripes sake!

Does Goodwill test jewelry for gold and diamonds? I guess some still slip through the cracks.

I'm not sure if they do or not. But the only " jewelry jar" that I bought had a 14 kt. and emerald bracelet in it. And I paid $20. for it. So think maybe it depends on the location (?) I don't know....
