Lock?

Is this a real lock? Was about to toss it as trash but decided it looked unique. Thanks

Is that possibly steel cable cut off on the bottom? Maybe part of a bicycle lock or some sort of cable lock.
 
To me it looks like a lock, only because the pic on the left, looks like it has a key hole.
Only you can tell if it looks like a key shaped opening. Does it?

Looks like a key opening to me. It's solid and has weight to it so I'm sure it's a lock of some kind. For what though? I bet it's old.

On closer look, I can't see that there is a seam for the barrell tumbler. The key hole might be cosmetic, unless the key simply pushes a latch. The key hole is well done and crafted like it's functional.

It's odd. Not so sure it's a lock now.

Lock. You know, to keep kids
From starting it and tearing down the tracks at a breakneck speed of 8 mph. Those old steam engines had terrible brakes! Just my FiftyCents.
Kool old lock tho.
