Needing help in identifying these Texas dug lead bullets.
Any ideas as to the age and caliber?
Please see my photos.
Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You need diameter measurements to determine caliber.
If you dont have calipers ,put the base of the bullet against your rule and take a straight on picture.
But the one on left looks like a .45 and is copper jacketed so probably not very old .
A .45 cal. is .452 or 11.5 mm Dia.

Sorry, my photo makes the bullet on the left may appear to be copper when it is actually lead with what I guessing has a lead core and the base measures 7/16.
The base of bullet on the right measures 3/8.

Sorry but that makes no sense. How can it be lead with a lead core?:?: You basically have two options, jacketed with a lead core or solid lead. What color is the jacket if you scrape it with a knife?

I was curious also and went ahead and used a knife to cut a tiny cut which does show copper underneath.
It was apparently painted over with a lead colored coating.
So what is the earliest known date that lead core copper jacketed bullets were used?
Around the bullet there are 3 indention dots made where the cartridge casing was secured.
Any ideas as to an approximate date?
I wish I had some idea as to what the bullet on the right might be.

Looks to me like-

Left- a .45 ACP FMJ (full metal jacket)
Right- a .38 round lead ball

Both could be from 1900- until now... Most likely not towards the 1900 mark.
