I found this interesting looking object out in the middle of cape cod bay Massachusetts. It was in the area where an old town once existed but was washed away by the tides. It looked to me like an neat hunk of quartz but after picking it up I wasn't so sure. Quartz on the sandy mostly sedimentary cape seems a little out of place. The color is odd kind of a purplish grey and there is a clamshell pattern chip at one end that looks a lot like glass. Since it was found in the ocean it has obviously been worn down from the sand and waves. Im thinking is quartz but I figured this would be the place to know for sure. Anyone think they can tell what it really is?
