Didn’t have much time to hunt yesterday, but managed to get out for an hour and a half in the morning at an old park I’ve been keen to hunt for a while. Things started off quite well, I started finding lots of old 1c and 2c coins which indicated the park hasn’t seen many detectorists, if any. First old coin for the day was a 1901 English threepence in awesome condition, which I was super happy to find because almost all other English threepences I’ve found are heavily worn.
Over the next hour, I found a few more halfpennies and two more silver threepences (both Australian, 1927 and 1938). In total I found 5 halfpennies (1932, 42 43, 43 and 48), 1 penny (1943), the three threepences (1901, 27, 38) and $13.05 in change. Also got an ‘Australia’ shoulder flash worn by soldiers in WWI and WWII (unfortunately it’s not in great condition), and an RAF badge (also from one of the wars).
These finds came from an area measuring about 10m by 5m, and there’s still heaps and heaps of lawn left to detect, so I can’t wait to get out there again. Thanks for looking and good luck out there!
