Went to a ghost town today, somewhere in the Arizona desert.
Not a single coin all day & then a half hour before going home I found this: 1871 Canadian dime, it was only 3 inches down, made my day. This is now my oldest coin find to date, except for a Chinese coin of which I cant get an exact date.

Also found a can top which reads: Folgers. Golden gate 10 oz. Net.

A Levi Strauss button, gear from a pocket watch, a square nail, round thing with a screen made of brass.

A pretty good hunt today. Thanks for looking.

Wonderfull! And gratulations.

I always feel slightly pitty for you overthere in the US. :(
Here we find 1800s coins on our first hunt. We find those that regular that they are 'additional finds'. We find 1600-1800 all the time on each hunt. The pre-1600s are our bucketlisters and those hunting longer (like me) find coins from 2000 yo and more.

I would love to take someone of you with me once on a hunt to get you happy when finding a handfull 1600-1900 coins on one afternoon hunt.
But I'm always happy if any of you find his oldest overthere. This reaction is really not arrogance.
That feeling of finding a top find is the same for everyone everywere. :friends:

Here in the southwest desert states our oldest coins are usually 1880 -1920 range, mostly early 1900s. The east coasters are more lucky they can find coins dating back to 1700s, but they cant hunt during winter like we can, it was 75 degrees here yesterday...

Right on! Nice finds, oldest coin and a day out in the desert is always one of my favorites.

Congrats!

Very nice Canadian dime. I also like the Folgers coffee can lid. Nice to find a relic with some words on it.

Some nice digging Mike. Congrats on the 1871 Canadian Silver Dime along with all the rest. I'm very sure that Canadian Silver of any kind would be a extremely rare find in the Arizona desert. Trapper
