My first Barber Quarter, at least I think thats what it is.
I found it at a friends house 6in from the edge of the main walkway to the front of the house, the house was believed to be built in 1913. I had only about 30 min to detect, but it was all it took today, and yes I will be a regular in his yard for awhile:D.

Nice coin, congrats!
You could just try to lightly rub the dirt off with a damp towel (or a soft toothbrush); that might be all you need to do as far as cleaning. It looks like it should clean up well. Let us know how it goes!

Nice one! Different members have different methods of cleaning on non key dates. Personally, I prefer electrolysis, but others may use a standard silver cleaner, or Tarn X, with a follow up application of acetone. Good luck on gettin' her purty!! HH

Nice find and not bad quality either!

I'd be doing a happy dance, too! Not bad for a half-hour's hunt!

The detail on the coin is very clear. My son found a Barber quarter recently, and although it was very shiny, the details were a bit worn away.

If you manage to clean it up nicely, how about posting another pic?

Just let it bounce around in your pocket with your other change for a few days ;)
The detail on the quarter is pretty solid; while it's not a rare date, I vote for leaving it as is. Cleaning is will leave an unnatural glow to it and/or many fine scratches that dont look anything like mint luster or natural patina.

Well I decided just to use a very ultra soft paint brush lightly under some cold water and this is what I got.
